Shiretown Singers readying for fall season

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Shiretown Singers welcome new members for their fall season. Following a triumphant debut spring concert, they are excited to begin rehearsals in September and to invite new members who love to sing or wish they could!

All are welcome on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Central Hall Commons to a free introductory session and reception hosted by the returning members of the choir. Some of the songs for the upcoming concert season will be introduced, and delicious desserts and finger foods will be served. Regular rehearsals will begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 19. 

The fall season will prepare for a concert to be held on Sunday, Dec. 14, and also for caroling at Hometown Holidays on Dec. 6. Artistic Director Allison Aldrich Smith has over 40 years of experience working with singers at all levels of ability. 

“I truly believe that it’s human nature to sing together, and it’s something we’ve lost in our culture,” Smith said. “The Shiretown Singers are a very welcoming community choir, we urge everyone to come on Sept. 4 to check us out!”
