Friends of Community Fitness raises $84,355 to launch endowment fund

GUILFORD — Friends of Community Fitness is proud to announce the successful completion of a member-driven fundraising campaign that raised $84,355 to establish an  endowment fund. The organization’s board of directors has selected the Maine Community Foundation to manage the fund, ensuring long-term financial stability and support for the center’s mission.

“The endowment will provide long-term financial security, ensuring that Friends of Community  Fitness can continue offering vital health and wellness programs for years to come,” said Britney  Gallagher, executive director. “We have had an amazing outpouring of support from our  members to make this happen. Our members should feel proud of what they together have  been able to achieve. This was truly a member-driven campaign.”

Founded in 2003, Friends of Community Fitness has continued to grow each year with a strong  and committed foundation of board members, staff, and community participants. The  organization offers over 40 weekly programs free to members, along with 24/7 facility access,  multiple weight and cardio rooms, a gymnasium, fitness studio and an infrared sauna.

As a nonprofit fitness and community center located in Guilford, Friends of Community  Fitness promotes healthy living through accessible physical exercise, social engagement and  educational opportunities for people of all ages and financial backgrounds.

“This endowment marks an exciting new chapter,” Gallagher added. “We plan to continue to  grow the fund each year with the support of our annual fundraisers.”
