Guilford will welcome Goldstars Tribute Wall
GUILFORD — The town of Guilford will celebrate this Fourth of July with a presentation of the Goldstars Tribute Wall.
This unique presentation honors all those service men and women who have fallen in the Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Three motorcycle groups will escort the 42-foot trailer carrying the wall from the Somerset Pour House in Newport to the recreation fields in Guilford. The Legion Riders, the Widows Sons and Elks Riders will leave at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 3 and proceed up Route 7 through Corinna, Dexter and Dover-Foxcroft. From there the group will take Route 15 to Guilford and the town’s recreation fields along the Piscataquis River.

Everyone is invited to come and celebrate the Fourth of July by honoring these fallen heroes. The wall will be open to the public from 5-10 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5. It is the only scheduled appearance of the wall in Maine this year.
The Goldstars Wall has the names and branches of the service of more than 7,500 soldiers. When assembled it is 91 feet long and 9 feet tall.
