
Donahue wins long jump at Class C championship
OAKLAND — Foxcroft Academy junior Conner Donahue won the long jump at the 2025 Class C outdoor track & field championship on June 10 at Messalonskee High School, helping the Ponies finish in 12th place among 38 schools with a score of 20 points.
Donahue leaped a distance of 21 feet, 5.75 inches to earn top long jump honors. Donahue was 5.75 inches further than the 21 feet for runner-up Mount Abram High School of Salem Township senior Reagan Lockaby.
Donahue also came in fourth in the 200 meters with his time of 23.77 seconds and sixth in the 100 meters at 11.61 seconds. He accounted for 18 of the 20 Pony points.
Foxcroft junior Aiden Bryant placed seventh in the 110 hurdles in 17.27 seconds.
Other members of the Pony team taking part in the state championship were 800: 10. sophomore Joesph Knapp 2:11.05.
3,200: 13. senior Runner Jarrett 11:02.14 and 16. sophomore Pace Jarrett 11:16.87.
300 hurdles: 11. Bryant 46.33 seconds.
4×100 relay: 10. Bryant, junior Landon Smith. Knapp, Donahue 47.70 seconds.
Long jump: 20. Smith 17-05.
Triple jump: 15. Smith 37-02.50.
Shot put: 13. senior Jaxson Zimmerman 37-06.50.
Discus: 30. sophomore Ethen Eakright 92-04.
The Dexter Regional High School boys scored 14.5 points to come in 18th at the Class C championship.
Junior Damiair Miller finished fifth in the triple jump with his distance of 40-10.50. He also was part of a four-way tie for sixth place in the high jump at 5-05.
Dexter’s 4×100 relay came in seventh at 47.66 seconds, made up of junior Bryce Cooper, sophomore Bodhi Langlais, Miller and sophomore Tristan Hopkins-Watrous.
Tiger junior Brady Jerome had a fifth-place shot put throw at 40-06.50.
Hopkins Watrous placed sixth in the 110 hurdles with his time of 17.14 seconds.
Other Dexter boys taking part in the state meet were 100-meter prelims: 18. Hopkins-Watrous 12.03 seconds.
High jump: three-way tie for 12. Cooper 5-05 on jumps.
Long jump: 17. Miller 18-05.50.
Discus: 9. junior Tanner Ladd 114-05; 28, Jerome 91-09.
Penquis Valley High School ended the day in 33rd place in the boys standings with three points.
Patriot junior Jareth Williams came in seventh in the 100-meter finals with his time of 11.74 seconds.
Senior Lucas Chai was eighth in the triple jump at 38-11 for another point for Penquis Valley.
Williams was also 13th in the 200 standings at 24.45 seconds.
The Piscataquis Community High School boys picked up a point at the state meet to tie Buckfield High School, Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield and Madison Area High School for 35th place.
Pirate junior Noah Kain scored in the javelin as his throw of 127 feet was good for eighth place.
Orono High School won the boys team title with 125 points followed by 85 for runner-up George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and 48.5 points for third place Bangor Christian School. The championship is the second in three years for the Red Riots, fifth since 2015 and 18th overall in program history.
In the girls meet PCHS finished the competition 14th among 35 teams with a score of 18 points.
Freshman Ava Edes came in second in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 4-10.
Pirate senior Sadie Kelley finished third in the 1,600 racewalk with her time of 9:14.69.
Sophomore Olivia Goodwin picked up a pair of points with her seventh-place javelin throw measuring 91-05.
Freshman Ella Zeller did likewise in the discus at 87-02.
Other PCHS state meet entrants were 300 hurdles: 14. Edes 53.44 seconds.
Shot put: 15. Zeller 26-01.
Javelin: 12. junior Molly Goodwin 83-05.
The Foxcroft Academy girls were tied with Maranacook Community High School of Readfield and North Yarmouth Academy for 17th place with each of the three teams recording 14 points.
Sophomore Jasmine Hall came in second in the shot put with a top throw of 32-07. She also placed fifth in the discus at a distance of 89-07.
Senior Alexis Heretakis had the eighth-fastest time in the 200 at 28.36 seconds. She also finished eighth in the long jump standings with a distance of 15-06.75.
Other Ponies at the Class C meet were 100-meter prelims: 9. Heretakis 13.64 seconds.
800: 11. senior Nina Huber 2:37.98.
4×400 relay: 13. freshman Lexi Bjornson, sophomore Marion Dietz, Huber, Heretakis 4:43.82.
High jump: T-20. Deitz 4-02.
Javelin: 26. Hall 69-02; 31. Deitz 58-08.
Dexter’s girls team came in 30th with 3.42 points.
The Tiger 4×100 relay was sixth as senior Sunny Bache, freshmen Asani Miller and Kylie Gilbert and sophomore Brookelin Dorman combined for a time of 55.06 seconds.
Bache was also part of a seven-way tie for seventh place in the high jump. She and six others each attained a height of 4-02.
Also representing Dexter were 100-meter prelims: 10. Dorman 13.68 seconds; 19. Miller 13.91 seconds.
200: 17. Miller 29.45 seconds.
800: 10. freshman Ella McClintock-Hatch 2:37.23.
Long jump: 21. Bache 14-00.75.
Triple jump: 17. Dorman 30-01.50.
The girls from Penquis Valley scored two points to place 32nd in Oakland.
Patriot junior Brooklyn Decker had the pair of points with her seventh-place shot put throw. Decker’s top distance was 28-11.
Decker competed in the other two throwing events. She came in 17th in the discus at 75-04 and was 24th in the javelin at 71-06.
In the javelin junior Amara Driscoll and senior Rylee Heal were 13th and 14th with respective throws of 82-04 and 80-03.
Sophomore Ashley Ladd came in 18th in the 400 at 1:07.79. Senior Kayla Hatt finished 20th in the 1,600 at 6:08.17.
Bucksport High School finished in first place with 91 points, earning the first state championship in program history. MCI was second with 72.5 points and the Orono girls were third with 65 points.
