Vote yes on SAD 46 recall

To the Editor;

As an SAD 46 employee, I am deeply troubled by the recent actions of some of our school board members. First, I want to make clear that we have members on our board who put our students, staff and community first. There are members who are trying to do their jobs for the betterment of our children.

Unfortunately, I believe we have two members who have put their own personal agendas above our schools. In my nearly 30 years in education, most of them in Dexter, I have never seen anything like this. I have never felt compelled to write a letter like this one because I trusted our board. Even when members did not agree with each other, they were always civil and worked together to solve a problem.

I have always felt like our board was looking out for the best interest of our students, until now. There have been social media posts, false accusations of a liberal conspiracy, and, from my perspective, an outright refusal to work with fellow members unless their own personal interests are met, making our board dysfunctional. This is not Dexter. This is not the district I proudly work for.

I wish I could vote in this recall election on June 10. I cannot because even though I live in the district, I do not live in Dexter. So, I am writing to all Dexter voters to please get out and vote. Support our members who are here for our students by recalling Alisha Ames and Judy Saunders.
