Penquis students take part in Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute celebration

ORONO — Female students from Penquis Valley High School participated in the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute’s Year-End Celebration on May 19 at the University of Maine. This event marked the culmination of their involvement in a three-year program designed to empower high school girls by enhancing their confidence, aspirations and leadership skills.

Founded by former U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe, the Institute focuses on developing participants’ values, voice and vision to prepare them for leadership roles in their communities and beyond.

Penquis students taking part were Makenzie Michaud, Lilah Bell, Naima Ali, Rylee Heal, Amara Driscoll, Lily Coons, Mackenzie Fernald, Ava Shoopman and Kaitlynn McMahon.
