GARLAND — The public is invited to begin Memorial Day, Monday May 26 in Garland in the Baptist church yard at 7:30 a.m. with a concert of patriotic music by the Harold J. Crosby Community Band of Dexter. At 8 a.m. a memorial service will be held at the veterans memorial across the road from the church.
Memorial Day Committee Chair Rodney Giles has appointed Tim Tiess, adjutant, American Legion Post 53 in Dexter to be master of ceremonies this year.

VETERANS MEMORIAL — The Garland Veterans Memorial. A service will be held there at 8 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.
Country singer Josiah Dyer will be singing “Tears Roll Down” in tribute to those who gave their lives in service to their country. He recently returned from a successful Country Music Associations International competition in Nashville where he won three awards in his age category, including “Most Promising Vocalist”. Dyer lives in Charleston and is the grandson of Rodney and Janice Giles of Garland.
Veterans who attend will be introduced. Connie Hall will be song leader. Pastor Scott Millett of the Garland Community Baptist Church will deliver the prayers. The program will conclude with taps and the laying of a memorial wreath.
The committee suggests bringing folding chairs for your comfort during the concert and ceremony. Attendance grows larger each year, and organizers encourage area families to make Memorial Day morning in Garland an annual event. Questions? Call 207-924-3835 or email mga@tdstelme.net.
