Penquis’ Williams wins 100 meters

OLD TOWN — Penquis Valley High School’s Jareth Williams had the fastest time of the competition in the 100 meters as the Patriot outdoor track & field team opened the 2025 season at a Penobscot Valley Conference meet April 25 at Old Town High School. Penquis scored 18 points to place eighth out of 11 schools.

Williams ran the 100 in 11.83 seconds, as he was the sole sprinter to break the 12-second mark. Williams was about 0.2 second faster than Hermon High School’s Clayton Roy who finished second in 12.04 seconds.

Lucas Chai had the other eight Penquis points with his second-place performance in the triple jump. Chai achieved a distance of 37 feet, 1.5 inches.

The Patriot girls also scored 18 points, tying Fort Fairfield High School for eighth place among a field of 10 teams.

Brooklyn Decker finished fourth in all three throwing events. She had a throw measuring 28-05.50 in the shot put, 71-03 in the discus and 87-04 in the javelin.

Ashley Ladd placed fourth in the 200 with her time of 30.95 seconds.

Kayla Hatt came in fifth in the 1,600 at 6:27.07.
