FA’s Donahue, Bryant win three events at season-opening track meet

BAR HARBOR – The Foxcroft Academy boys outdoor track and field team opened the 2025 season by finishing third among seven schools with a score of 85 points at a Penobscot Valley Conference meet April 18 at Mount Desert Island High School. The Ponies’ Conner Donahue won two individual events, anchored the winning 4×100 relay and came in second in another event, while Aiden Bryant swept the hurdles and was part of the relay.

Donahue had the day’s top 100-meter time of 11.80 seconds, more than a quarter second ahead of runner-up Alex McGowan of Ellsworth High School’s 12.06 seconds.  Donahue earned top long jump honors at a distance of 20 feet. 0.5 inches, over 16 inches better than the 18-07.25 for Ellsworth’s Eli Holler.

The Foxcroft 4×100 relay finished in first place with Bryant, Landon Smith, Shane Birungi and Donahue covering the lap around the track in 48.14 seconds.

Donahue added a second-place finish in the 200 at 24.19 seconds.

Bryant won both hurdle events as the only entrant at 110 and 300 meters. His respective times were 19.31 and 49.97 seconds.

Smith came in second in the triple jump at 36-05.75, and he was third in the long jump at 18-01. Birungi added a point in the event by placing sixth at 16-06.25.

Runner Jarrett finished third in the 3,200 at 11:35.03.

Jaxson Zimmerman had a fourth-place throw in the shot put with a heave measuring 39-09.

Nicholas McCorrison came in sixth in a pair of events, the 400 at 60.37 seconds and high jump at 4-06.

In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft picked up 57 points to finish fourth among a field of six teams.

The Ponies’ Jasmine Hall won the shot put. Her throw of 34-10 was the girls’ best, about five feet further than the 29-11 for runner-up Hadley Oliver of John Bapst Memorial High School of Bangor.

Hall had a second-place discus throw at 72-10, and she came in sixth in the javelin at 67-08.

Alexis Heretakis finished second in three events. She was the 100 and 200 runner-up with times of 13.75 and 29.04 seconds, and was second in the long jump at 14-09.25. Heretakis anchored the Foxcroft 4×100 relay with Zoey Eakright, Violet Chai, Gabrielle Licata and Hertakis coming in fourth with their time of 58.90 seconds.

Nina Huber ran to a second-place performance in the 800 at 2:54.85.

Marion Deitz placed fifth in the pole vault at 5-06.
