Convicted sex offender found guilty on new charges

By Wendy Watkins, Bangor Daily News Staff

A Piscataquis County man previously convicted on sexual abuse charges has been found guilty of new charges.

A jury found William B. Bradbury, 63, guilty of 1 count of unlawful sexual touching and 4 counts of indecent conduct, all misdemeanors.

He was sentenced to 6 months in the Piscataquis County Jail for the unlawful sexual contact and 60 days for the indecent exposure charges. He is currently out on bail pending an appeal, according to the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office.

Back in July 2017, Bradbury was involved in a 22-hour standoff with police in Lincoln when they attempted to arrest him on felony charges of sexual abuse of a minor. As part of a plea deal, he was sentenced to five years in prison with all but three suspended, followed by two years of probation.

He was also required to register as a lifetime sex offender.

In the new case, the sheriff’s office opened an investigation in October 2023 stemming from a report involving two Medford girls who reported that a local man “had exposed himself and touched them in a sexual manner.”

Bradbury was arrested on those offenses by the sheriff’s office on May 30, 2024.
