Friends of Wilson Ponds Area, Inc. presents annual Ice Out contest

GREENVILLE – Friends of Wilson Ponds Area, Inc. invites all to participate in its annual Ice Out fundraising event.

Looking for a sign that spring is finally on its way? Join the tradition of guessing when the ice on Lower Wilson Pond will melt! It’s a great way to pass the time while supporting a good cause: all proceeds benefit FOWPA’s Courtesy Boat Inspection Program and the Frank C. McIver Scholarship, which provides two teens the opportunity to attend the Teen Wilderness Expedition in July.

Participants who submit their best ice out predictions will have a chance to win exciting prizes:

ICE OUT — Lower Wilson Pond as of March 13. The Friends of Wilson Ponds Area, Inc. is holding its annual Ice Out fundraising event.

First place: A Moosehead Lake Cruise aboard the historic Katahdin for two and a $25 voucher for the galley aboard the ship.

Second place: A $50 gift certificate to Indian Hill Trading Post and a copy of the book “Loving the North Woods” by Karen Tilberg, a chronicle of the difficult challenges that led to tremendous conservation achievements in the great North Woods of Maine.

Third place: Friends of Wilson Ponds baseball type hat and T-shirt of your choosing to be picked up at the 2025 FOWPA Annual Meeting on July 12.

How to enter:

Filling out the form is easy!

Select one guess for $5, or five guesses for $20.

Enter the required information, including your email address and name.

Submit your predictions using the provided spaces, which include a drop-down menu with a calendar and timeframes.

Enter your payment information.

After submitting, you’ll want to check your email for confirmation of your guesses and payment.

Need a hint? The entry form includes ice out dates from the past three years. Take a guess, join the tradition and be a part of something that supports Wilson Ponds for generations to come.
