Greenville athletics to join East/West Conference
GREENVILLE — Greenville High School athletics will be moving to the East/West Conference for the 2025-26 school year, Greenville Consolidated School Athletic Director Joshua Guay announced in a post on the Greenville Consolidated School – Union 60 Facebook page. Guay said the school’s application into the conference was accepted, putting the Lakers back into the East/West Conference after about a decade in the Penobscot Valley Conference.
In the post Guay said as members of the PVC, Greenville had some scheduling challenges and difficulties in playing opponents with similar enrollment numbers. Another challenge was that the Laker basketball teams only played one fellow Class D South program in the regular season.
As a member of the East/West Conference, Greenville will play Class D South schools such as Forest Hills of Jackman, Valley of Bingham, Vinalhaven, Carrabec of North Anson, Islesboro, Buckfield, Wisscasset, Temple Academy of Waterville, and North Haven.

CONFERENCE SWITCH — Greenville’s Aleya Pelletier gets ready to control the ball during a September 2018 game vs. Penobscot Valley of Howland. Greenville athletics will be switching from the Penobscot Valley Conference to the East/West Conference for 2025-26.
The switch will begin for the fall soccer season.
Guay said there is currently a proposal for the Maine Principals’ Association to add a fifth division for schools under 100 students. Guay said both of these changes will be great for the school.
Greenville middle school teams will remain in the Penquis League and continue to play a similar schedule as years past.
In another Facebook post, Guay said he is very pleased to say that for the first time in a couple of years Greenville will have baseball and softball teams at both the high school and middle school levels.
