Sebasticook Valley FCU donates more than $46,000 to Maine Credit Unions’ 2024 End Hunger Campaign

PITTSFIELD – Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union is proud to announce its continued support for the Maine Credit Union League’s Campaign for Ending Hunger. As a longstanding member of the Maine Credit Union League, Sebasticook Valley FCU has actively participated in fundraising efforts to combat hunger in Maine communities, raising $45,999.96 in 2024. For its efforts, the Maine Credit Union League rewarded Sebasticook Valley FCU with a $400 bonus, bringing the total available for them to distribute to Maine hunger organizations to $46,399.96. This is a $14,807 increase (a 47 percent increase) from money raised in 2023.

Since beginning its support for the Campaign for Ending Hunger, Sebasticook Valley FCU has raised nearly $450,000, contributing significantly to the collective efforts of credit unions across Maine. In 2024, the Maine Credit Union Campaign collectively raised $1.3 million. These funds are crucial in addressing food insecurity and supporting hunger relief organizations throughout the state.

“We are proud to be a part of the Maine Credit Union League’s mission to end hunger in Maine, but we are especially proud given Sebasticook Valley FCU’s significant increase in funds raised this year by our employees and members,” said credit union President Jim Lemieux. “We achieved this through our collective community spirit that really embodies what our credit union is all about.” 

The Campaign for Ending Hunger is a statewide initiative led by the Maine Credit Union League, where 100 percent of the funds raised are returned to hunger organizations in Maine. The campaign aims to alleviate hunger and provide essential support to individuals and families facing food insecurity. 

Sebasticook Valley FCU supports the Campaign for Ending Hunger by organizing fundraising events, donation drives and raffles throughout the year.
