AUGUSTA — Sen. Stacey Guerin, R–Glenburn had the honor of welcoming three heroic young men to the State House on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Guerin is pleased to have co-sponsored a Legislative Sentiment with Rep. Chad Perkins, R–Dover-Foxcroft recognizing Colby Simmons of Dover-Foxcroft, Kaleb Weymouth of Charleston, and Robert Weymouth of Charleston.
The three teenagers spotted a barn and house fire in Atkinson during the early hours of the morning on New Year’s Day and immediately sprang into action. They attempted to alert the residents of the engulfed home by banging on the doors. When that didn’t work, they bravely entered the home to wake up the couple who lived there and helped them evacuate from the house.
“These young men are truly heroes. They sprung into action to rescue the homeowners and alerted authorities to the blaze” said Guerin. “I was honored to host them at the State House and to recognize their heroism.”
