Power outages affect Maine communities Monday afternoon

Nearly 5,000 households in Piscataquis County were without power on Monday afternoon.
According to Versant Power, the outages mainly affected the greater Milo area. Around 4,723 customers were affected as of 2:50 p.m. Monday.
By 4:30, that number had dipped to around 1,239.
The cause of the outages remains under investigation, and crews are preparing to restore power.
Central Maine Power reported a small cluster of outages in the Wiscassett area, as of 2:50 p.m. Around 136 customers were without power.
By 4:30, that number had increased to 1,610, but was mainly affecting the Windham region.
On Monday, the National Weather Service issued a gale warning off Maine’s coast, and wind gusts were expected to reach up to 35 miles per hour inland.
