PCHS’ Edes and Goulette have first-place indoor track performances

ORONO — Piscataquis Community High School junior Ava Goulette and freshman Ava Edes both came in first in events at a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Saturday, Dec. 28 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House. They helped the Pirate girls score 39 points to place sixth among nine schools recording points at the meet.

Edes won the 55-meter hurdle finals with her time of 9.95 seconds. She also was fourth in the 200 at 30.84 seconds and came in sixth in the long jump at a distance measuring 13 feet, 5.25 inches.

Goulette had a top throw of 34-08 in the shot put to earn top honors in the event. She bested runner-up Presque Isle High School senior Jayden Harvell’s 28-02.50 by more than 6 feet.

Junior Judith Jannsen was third in the long jump at 14-05. She also came in fourth in the 400 in a time of 1:11.92, and anchored the sixth-place 4×200 relay squad.

Junior Sadie Kelley, senior Baylynn Grant, junior Molly Goodwin, and Jannsen combined for a time of 2:12.22.

Kelley also came in fifth in the mile at 6:42.14.
