UMaine Extension 4-H launching two virtual learning workshops on climate action and farm animal care
University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H Virtual Learning is kicking off 2025 with two opportunities in January, a series on climate civic action and a series introducing farm care and basic animal science. This Extension program leads virtual learning opportunities for young people on a variety of topics throughout the year. The Zoom sessions feature activities that are hands-on, minds-on learning for youth located anywhere in the state.
Farm Animal Care FUNdamentals will be held on Wednesdays, Jan. 22 and 29 and Feb. 5 from 4-5:15 p.m. Participants ages 9-18 will learn the basics of farm animal care, exploring basic animal husbandry, care and nutrition. The registration deadline is Jan. 7.
Climate Civic Action club will take place on Mondays, Jan. 27 and Feb. 3 and 10 from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Participants ages 12-18 will learn about climate change from global and local perspectives and explore opportunities for individual action to make a difference. The registration deadline is Jan. 13.
