Golden nominates Stineford for U.S. Service Academies

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine announced his nominees to the United States Service Academies.

Among his nominations is Joshua Stineford of LaGrange and Penquis Valley High School, to the

U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland; U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York; U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York.

Members of Congress may nominate applicants who meet eligibility requirements set by federal law. Golden nominated nine young Mainers from across the state, all of whom were interviewed by a panel of veterans to learn more about their academic record, test scores, leadership ability, involvement in extracurricular activities, and commitment to serving their country.

“As a veteran, it’s my honor to be in a position to nominate the next generation of military leaders,” Golden said. “This group of nominees are the best of what Maine has to offer, and I look forward to their future success.”
