Area indoor track teams open the season
ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy and Penquis Valley and Piscataquis Community High School indoor track and field teams all took part in an opening Eastern Maine Indoor Track League 2024-25 season meet on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Fieldhouse.
The Foxcroft boys scored 19 points to finish sixth among nine teams picking up points.
Pony junior Connor Donahue had the top performance in the long jump at 20 feet, 5.5 inches. He bested the 20-04 for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill sophomore Reece Renwick by 1.5 inches.
Donahue also came in second in the 200 with his time of 24.40 seconds. He accounted for all 19 of his team’s points by placing sixth in the 55 meters at 7.07 seconds.
The Penquis boys came in eighth with a score of 14 points.
Senior Lucas Chai finished second in the triple jump at exactly 37 feet. Junior Jareth Williams was third in the 55 at 7.02 seconds.
The PCHS girls picked up 14 points to come in eighth among nine teams recording points.
Pirate junior Ava Goulette had the meet’s top throw in the shot put. Her heave measuring 33-02.75 was over a foot more than runner-up Bucksport High School junior Kristen Farricker’s 32-02.
PCHS freshman Ava Edes came in fifth in the 55 hurdles at 10.29 seconds. Junior Judith Jannsen was fifth in the 400 at 1:12.06.
