Fidium brings all-fiber connectivity to Dover-Foxcroft and Dexter

Fidium has expanded its multi-gig, symmetrical speed internet service to Dover-Foxcroft and Dexter, making its future-proof fiber network available to more than 7,200 homes and businesses.

“The Town of Dover-Foxcroft is very pleased to have Fidium’s fiber project completed in the greater Dover-Foxcroft area,” said Dover-Foxcroft Town Manager Jack Clukey. “This project will provide our residents and businesses with the level of affordable connectivity necessary to encourage economic growth and improve quality of life in our community.”

“The Town of Dexter is thrilled to welcome fiber expansion to our community and surrounding areas,” said Trampas King, Dexter town manager. “This is an essential advancement, giving our residents reliable and affordable access to high-speed internet. For too long, many in our town have struggled with costly and inconsistent connectivity, yet internet access has become just as vital as other basic utilities. We look forward to the positive impact this service will bring, from supporting local businesses to enhancing quality of life for Dexter residents and making our town more connected than ever.”

Recent studies confirm that fiber broadband drives economic growth, in particular for rural communities, increasing business growth by 213 percent and leading to a 44 percent higher GDP. For individuals, fiber access resulted in self-employment growth of 10 percent and increased per capita income by 18 percent. Fiber also increases real estate values, as single-family homes with fiber access have a 4.9 percent higher value than those without. Fidium’s expansion of its all-fiber network brings these opportunities to Dexter and Dover-Foxcroft, as well as all the benefits that come with access to a fiber broadband connection.

“For rural communities, fiber transforms how we connect with one another, increasing access to educational, economic, healthcare and entertainment opportunities, and options,” said Sarah Davis, vice president of market development for Fidium. “We are proud to help build the future in Dexter and Dover-Foxcroft, lighting up these and more communities in Maine and connecting them to the benefits of Fidium.”

Today more than 294,000 Maine homes and businesses have access to Fidium, with more availability coming soon across the state. Residents and businesses may learn more and sign up for updates about future service availability at FidiumFiber.com.
