Milo man sentenced to 18 years after firing pistol at father-in-law

A Milo man was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to an attempted murder charge.

David Barry, 53, pled guilty to one charge of Class A Attempted Murder in connection with his April arrest in Piscataquis County court on Nov. 18, according to a county spokesperson. 

Barry was arrested on April 18 after he fired a pistol at his father-in-law on Pleasant River Road. He fired until the magazine was empty and then reloaded; every shot missed the victim, according to a police report from the Milo Police Department. 

Multiple guns were removed from the residence when Barry, who was drunk at the time, was arrested. 

All but six and a half years of his sentence are suspended, and he is subject to four years conditional release once time is served. 

Details on the terms of the conditional release were not immediately available.
