Pedestrian injured in Charleston hit-and-run

CHARLESTON — A pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Charleston on Sunday, Nov. 17.

Penobscot County sheriffs were called to Bradford Road in Charleston at around 12:45 p.m. after a vehicle reportedly struck a pedestrian and fled the scene, according to a Facebook post by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. The pedestrian received minor injuries. 

After patrolling the area, Gary Smith Jr., 33, of Bradford, was taken into custody for an outstanding failure to appear warrant, and was additionally charged with failing to report a personal injury crash, which is a Class D misdemeanor.

Further details were not available as of Monday morning. It was not immediately clear whether the pedestrian was hospitalized following the Sunday crash.
