PCEDC annual meeting will recognize Myrick Award recipient Clukey

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis County Economic Development Council is pleased to announce its choice for the 2024 Warren “Pete” Myrick Award, Jack Clukey of Dover-Foxcroft. Clukey will be honored at the 2024 PCEDC Annual Meeting and Dinner Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Chosen for his many impactful contributions to the Piscataquis region, Angie Arno, executive director of PCEDC said that “Jack personifies the attributes associated with Pete Myrick and the recipients of the award named for him: an exemplary commitment and outstanding contributions to education, economic development, and civic engagement in Piscataquis County.”

PCEDC board member John Simko said, “As a long-time member of the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council and also the Pine Crest Development Corporation, Jack Clukey has participated at a leadership level during the redevelopment of the Mayo Mill, led efforts to redevelop Browns Mill, and has overseen the implementation of the Pine Crest Business Park. As a longtime member of the Maine Town and City Management Association, Jack has encouraged best practices in local government for administrators from across Maine. Pete Myrick believed in Piscataquis County, and so does Jack Clukey.”

“Jack has left his mark as a professional manager in his hometown. His ability to work patiently through complex problems to develop solutions for Dover-Foxcroft residents has improved the quality of life in our community over the last 20 years,” said Tom Lizotte, Dover-Foxcroft Select Board chair. “Jack’s interest in economic development extends beyond Dover-Foxcroft to include all of Piscataquis County, and he has twice stepped up to serve the PCEDC as its President.”

Denise Buzzelli, PCEDC board president and Piscataquis Chamber director said, “I have known Jack for over 11 years and have worked closely with him on community projects and events, economic development endeavors, strategic planning boards and committees, and the co-management of the COVID-19 ‘Keep Maine Healthy Grant’, disbursing $250,000 in supplies and personal protection equipment to local businesses. In addition to managing the town, he has worked tirelessly to strengthen our infrastructure and the economic vitality of our region, while creating opportunities to educate community leaders involved in making vital decisions for the town of Dover-Foxcroft. As he has recently announced his retirement, I feel it is a perfect time to recognize him by naming him as our choice for this year’s Warren ‘Pete’ Myrick Award; he checks every box; he is so deserving of this honor.”

Community members are invited to register for the event, scheduled for Dec. 12 at 4:30 p.m. at the Central Hall Commons, and can do so by clicking on this link:  https://pcedc.org/news/myrick-awards/am/.
