To the Old Town Orono YMCA Board of Directors
To the Editor;
On behalf of myself and all the others whom use the Piscataquis Regional YMCA in Dover-Foxcroft, I employ you to follow through with your promises and turn the facility, its assets, and the endowment back to the community it represents and those that started it. Being a leader of a non-profit and a current member of four non-profit BOD’s including one on a hospital, I respectfully ask you do this quickly.
As for me, I have been a member of the Y since its opening in 1988 when I was in college. Now at 60, I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people at the Piscataquis Y. My biggest concerns now are for this community and its older population who not only utilize this Y for the fitness activities, but this is one of their limited times to have social interaction with others. The Piscataquis Y was conceived as an entity to help the residents of Piscataquis County. This center is an integral part of this county, just as the Old Town Orono Y is yours. A newly created BOD is awaiting your decision, please think of this as if you lived in Piscataquis County and please do what is morally right.
On behalf of myself and all the others who use the YMCA in Dover-Foxcroft, I urge you to follow through on your promises and return the facility, its assets, and the endowment back to the community it serves, as well as those who founded it.
