Friends of Community Fitness raises over $36,000 at fourth annual Cycl-a-thon
GUILFORD — Friends of Community Fitness had a record year for the fourth annual Cycl-a-thon on Saturday, Oct. 19 with over 100 participants walking, running, or biking a total of 277 2-mile loops to earn donations for the center. To kick off the morning two kids won brand new bikes, and to wrap up the event over $1,000 in door prizes were given away to participants.
The total amount raised of $36,000 will be used to continue to offer low membership rates, scholarships, free community programs, and also invest in new equipment.
“Leading up to the event we had early sponsorships allowing us to order a new Leg press and Lat-pull machine,” said Executive Director Britney Gallagher. “We also have a lot of fun youth and senior programs planned! This is all a result of another successful fundraiser. We could not do it without all our volunteers, sponsors, donors, and participants. It truly takes support from everyone in the community to make this happen!”
