Foxcroft and Dexter cross country run at PVC championships

HOULTON — Runners from Foxcroft Academy and Dexter Regional High School took part in the 2024 Penobscot Valley Conference championships on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Houlton High School.

In the Small School competition, Foxcroft senior Runner Jarrett finished 12th among 67 entrants. He covered the 5K-course in a time of 18 minutes, 44.90 seconds.

Sophomore Pace Jarrett was only a few spots behind as he came in 15th with his time of 18:48.81. Pony sophomore Ethen Eakright placed 36th in 21:33.11.

Orono High School senior Ben Arsenault was first among Small School runners in 16:56.89, besting second place by about 17 seconds.

Orono won the boys team title with a score of 28 points, followed by 69 for Houlton/Greater Houlton Christian Academy, and 73 points for third place George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill. Nine full teams took part in this year’s meet.

In the girls’ race, Dexter junior Annabelle Peakes finished 11th among 40 entrants with her time of 24:23.78.

Foxcroft sophomores Nina Huber and Marion Deitz came in 20th and 24th with respective times of 25:55.25 and 26:38.54.

Houlton/GHCA senior Teanne Ewings earned top Small School honors as she won the race in 18:25.75, besting second place by approximately 40 seconds.

Houlton/GHCA won the team title with 21 points, followed by 35 for George Stevens Academy, and 80 for Narraguagus High School of Harrington (the division had just three full teams).

Dexter freshman Ella McClintock-Hatch finished second in the girls junior varsity race. McClintock-Hatch’s time of 24:33.61was the second-fastest among 38 entrants.

Tiger sophomore Isaac Rounds was 16th among 38 boys JV entrants with his time of 23:39.72.
