Sangerville woman indicted in crash that killed passenger receives 12-year sentence

DOVER-FOXCROFT – A Sangerville woman who was indicted on charges of manslaughter and aggravated criminal operating under the influence has received a 12-year sentence.

Tricia Labree was accused of driving with a blood alcohol content of .18, more than double the legal limit of .08, before losing control of the vehicle, causing the death of her passenger. Lori Jewell, 52, of Winthrop died in the July 30 crash. 

The crash left Jewell trapped in the car. The Dover-Foxcroft fire chief tried to rescue Jewell but she had already died. Labree claimed in court documents that she had tried to help free Jewell, but could not and went to seek help at a nearby house. 

On Monday, the Piscataquis County District Attorney’s Office announced that Labree had received a 12-year sentence for a manslaughter charge and a concurrent 10-year sentence for aggravated criminal operating under the influence charge. Both charges are Class B 

All but three years of the manslaughter sentence will be suspended, and Labree will be eligible for four years of conditional probation once released. 

All but three years of the 10-year sentence are suspended, with a qualification for conditional probation. Labree is also responsible for a $2,100 fine, and will have her license suspended for 10 years.
