Dexter-area schools reopen after closing for ‘specified threat’

A Dexter-area school district has canceled its first day of classes because of a threat.

SAD 46 administrators said in a Tuesday night, Aug. 27 statement that the move to cancel school on Wednesday came after they received a “specified threat.”

The district canceled all athletic practices and games scheduled for Wednesday, Aug 28

As of 5:30 p.m. Aug. 28, the district announced that students will be returning to classes on Thursday, Aug. 29 and Friday, Aug. 30. Students in grades K-9, Tri-County Technical Center students, and all new students will be returning to school. Students in grades 10 through 12 were set to begin the school year on Aug. 30.

The school will have security measures in place across district schools, according to a Facebook post made by the district on Aug. 28.
