Golf scramble to support Pine Tree Hospice programming

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Get ready, get set, golf! Pine Tree Hospice’s 17th annual Golf Open will be Saturday, Aug. 17 at Foxcroft Golf Club. Register a team of four now for this 18-hole scramble format tournament. Choose either the 8 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. start time and take part in this major fundraiser. Golfers will enjoy free lunch, a swag bag full of goodies, and a day with friends on the beautiful course.

Play for a chance to win prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, and a putting contest. The top two scoring gross and net teams will have their pick of rounds at desirable Maine golf courses and clubs.

Money raised from the scramble supports the delivery of Pine Tree Hospice’s vital programming. This programming, provided by over 40 trained volunteers and four staff members, includes transportation to doctors’ appointments for clients who no longer drive, respite for caregivers of family members with dementia, education and resources for the bereaved, or companionship for a frail elderly person who just needs a weekly visit.

In the past five years, the gap in support services for individuals with life-limiting conditions, caregivers, and grieving individuals, has grown significantly throughout the service area. In that time, Pine Tree Hospice doubled down, increasing capacity to meet the growing referrals and needs identified by families, while maintaining a low barrier to services. Why is a low barrier important? The client base includes very isolated individuals who have difficulty reaching out for help, or learning which agencies can be of assistance. As our population ages, assisting with gaps in services has become even more necessary.

Pine Tree Hospice does not receive reimbursement from private, state, or federal insurances and does not charge families for any of the services provided. All monies are raised through grants, donations, and important fundraisers like the Golf Open.

We hope to see you and your team on Aug.17 at Foxcroft Golf Club. Stop by the golf club, call Pine Tree Hospice at 207-802-8078, or email info@pinetreehospice.org to register your team today.
