A loud boom will be heard in Dover-Foxcroft

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Anyone in Dover-Foxcroft on Tuesday may hear a loud boom.

The Maine State Police bomb squad is in town to detonate explosive material brought to the Dover-Foxcroft police station on Tuesday morning, according to the department.

In response to a question from the Bangor Daily News, the police department described the explosives as “old blasting material” that was brought in for disposal.

It will be detonated in a “controlled and safe” location, but Dover-Foxcroft police said that “it will likely be heard throughout town.”

No additional information was immediately available, but Dover-Foxcroft police will release more details once a definitive time for the detonation has been set.
