GFWC Miosac Club celebrates 88th birthday, installs new officers

BOWERBANK — Fifteen members drove to Bear Point Marina to celebrate the 88th birthday of the GFWC Miosac Club. Hostesses Anne Cress and Lauri Ducat decorated the tables with candy cups and 3D flower pots.

While waiting for dinner to be served, outgoing President Minnie McCormick commented on how everyone did their part during the club year. She also presented each member with a handcrafted counted cross stitch gift.

Cress offered grace and dinner was served. Ducat presented two potted plants to lucky winners who had the correct letter in their favors. Lorna Holman and Betsey Ryan were the lucky winners.

Following dinner, GFWC Maine President Suzanne Raymond installed the following officers:

President  Wendy  Hutchins. Vice President Ducat, Secretary Diane Leighton, and Treasurer Cress. Raymond used colored candles to represent their positions.

Following the installation, McComrick presented Holman with a potted plant as she is leaving the club due to work restraints. She will  be welcomed back when it is feasible. 

McCormick presented Raymond with a round plaque with pine cones and club name on it for doing the installation  She also presented Raymond with a bouquet of yellow mums for being GFWC Maine president again.

With hugs and goodbyes, members left for home. The club will resume in October but will be active during the summer. Some will be tending the Marion Doore Park where special yellow tulips have been planted. Beginning in July,members will be contacting local businesses to buy an ad for the Community Directory.

Onward and upward, GFWC Miosac Club continues to help or contribute to local causes. October will find us back at the church for a Souper Supper!
