FA boys finished second at final regular season meet

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy boys track team finished second in the team’s final Penobscot Valley Conference regular season meet on May 17 at Orono High School. The Ponies scored 152 points, trailing only the 202 for the host Red Riots, to place second among a field of seven schools.

Jack Kinsbury came in first in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.93 seconds and 300 hurdles at 44.16 seconds. He also was second in the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches and fourth in the long jump at 19-02.

Eamon Vandermast won the 200 with his time of 24.54 seconds. He also finished as the 100-meter runner-up at 12.09 seconds and ran the third leg of the second-place 4×100 relay as Shane Birungi, Landon Smith, Vandermast, and Conner Donahue combined for a time of 47.53 seconds.

Donahue had three second-place performances, in the 200 at 24.70 seconds, long jump at 19-11.75, and triple jump at a distance of 38-01.75.

Foxcroft had three other first-place finishes. Joesph Knapp earned top 1,600 honors at 4:58.87, Jackson Smith won the high jump at 6-02, and Hunter McSorley had the day’s top javelin throw with 155 feet.

The Dexter Regional High School boys finished fifth in the team standings with 22 points.

Brady Jerome had the Tigers’ highest placement by coming in third in the discus with his throw measuring 120-11.

Tristan Hopkins-Watrous was fourth in the 110 hurdles at 18.37 seconds, fifth in the 100 at 12.44 seconds, and he opened the sixth-place 4×100 relay as Hopkins-Watrous, Bodhi Lewis, Deaken Cousins, and Brodie Gorin had a time of 50.62 seconds.

Ezekiel Bermudez came in fourth in the 1,600 with his time of 5:34.49.

Penquis Valley High School was seventh in the boys standings with a score of 13 points.

Jareth Williams had the meet’s top time in the 100 as he won in 11.86 seconds.

Williams also anchored the fifth-place 4×100 relay squad with Lucas Chai, James Chenkin, Ethan Lewis, and Wiliams combining for a time of 48.51 seconds.

In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft finished with 45 points to place fourth among seven teams.

The Ponies’ Alexis Heretakis had a hand in 26 of the points. She was second in the 200 at 28.93 seconds and anchored the 4×100 relay runner-up. Hilary Howard, Paige Weidman, Ingrid Berlin, and Heretakis together had a time of 56.59 seconds.

Heretakis was also third in the long jump at 15-01 and she was fourth in the 100 at 14.31 seconds.

The Penquis Valley girls picked up 22 points to place fifth in Orono.

Addison Conklin threw the javelin an even 96 feet to come in second. She also anchored the fourth-place 4×100 team with Layla Chai, Violet Chai, Ashley Ladd, and Conklin running a time of 58.21.

Brooklyn Decker came in third in the shot put at 28-07.50.

The Dexter girls tied Hermon High School for sixth place with both schools scoring 10 points.

Brookelin Dorman accounted for all 10 points as she was third in the triple jump at 30-02 and came in fourth in the 200 at 29.05 seconds.
