GFWC Miosac Club news

DOVER-FOXCROFT — April 2 was the date of the most recent meeting of the GFWC Miosac Club. There were 12 members and one guest present.

Program Chair Rheba Michaud, introduced Tami Cox. Cox is operating director of the Central Hall Commons. She went to the University of Maine-Augusta and UMaine-Farmington. She was a previous member of the Miosac Club. Her pet projects are feeding people, loneliness, children and the elderly. Cox arranges meetings, programs, shows, musical productions and many, many other events at the Commons for the community. The members very much valued the information and her presentation.

HOSTESSES — April 2 GFWC Miosac Club meeting hostesses Kathy Ryder and Vickie Parsons.

The meeting was called to order by President Minnie McCormick. She thanked hostesses Kathy Ryder and Vickie Parsons as well as Michaud.

Lorna Holman led the American’s Creed, Pledge of Allegiance, and Club Collect.

Diane Leighton did the roll call and presented the secretary’s report. Report accepted as read.

Roxy McGlauflin, corresponding secretary,  read a thank you note from Pine Tree Hospice thanking the club for an “in memory of Martha Rollins” donation.

Suzanne Raymond presented the treasurer’s report. Report accepted as read.

Brenda Quiet of the advisory committee reminded members that the next meeting is April 16 with Raymond as program chair and hostesses will be Leighton and Laurie Ducat.

Quiet also reported that thus far in 2023-24 they have donated well over 100 items to Pleasant Meadows Estates.

Lookout chair Vickie Parsons reported that members Betsey Ryan, Barb Austin, and ex-member Cathie Goodine were ill.

Holman, art chair, got in touch with the art director at Foxcroft Academy and the art show at the school will be in her classroom on April 11 with Suzette East as the judge.

The nominating committee announced the new officers for 2024-25 are Wendy Hutchins, president, Laurie Ducat, vice president; Diane Leighton, secretary; Roxy McGlauflin, corresponding secretary; Anne Cress, treasurer; and Barbara Austin, auditor.

Other committees were appointed and agreed upon.

Meeting was adjourned for delicious refreshments from the hostesses Michaud and Ryder.
