PCSWCD offers guided snowshoe under the Snow Moon

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District will be hosting a free guided full moon snowshoe with Executive Director Sarah Robinson at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24.

The February full moon, also known as the “Snow Moon” is among the most beautiful moons of the year. It is a larger than average full moon since the moon is closer to the Earth during that time. This event will be held at the Law Farm Nature Trails in Dover-Foxcroft and participants will enjoy a first ever night time stroll on the 1.1-mile trail system. Robinson has been helping maintain the Law Farm Nature trails for the last six years and looks forward to sharing the changes that have been made for the recreational trail system, fun facts, wildlife tracking and tree ID along the way! Bring your own snowshoes as we navigate through the trails while we listen for wildlife and enjoy the Snow Moon!

Please bring a headlamp or small flashlight for safety, proper clothing for winter hiking, snowshoes, and a water bottle or warm drink for yourself to enjoy the adventure.

We will be meeting at the parking lot trailhead. Folks should plan an hour to hike and have fun on the trail. To register for this fun and free event for the community please register at www.piscataquisswcd.org or email info@piscataquisswcd.org for more information.
