GREENVILLE — Northern Light CA Dean Hospital recognized 32 employees for achieving nearly 400 years of collective service at a December service award ceremony.
Employees who celebrated years of service milestones in 2022 and 2023 were honored at the ceremony.
In her opening remarks, Northern Light CA Dean Hospital President Marie Vienneau, BSN, MHA, FACHE, highlighted two employees, Steve Douglass, director of facilities, and Jeri-Ann Gilbert, RN, Medical/Surgical Unit, who began working at the hospital in 1987, just three years after the hospital’s East Wing opened.
“The biggest news story in Maine when Steve and Jeri started at CA Dean was the April flood that affected much of the state,” says Vienneau. “This was the year that Ronald Reagan told Gorbachev to ‘tear down this wall.’ And if you turned on the radio in 1987 you would have heard chart-toppers George Michael, U2, Bon Jovi, and Whitney Houston.”
Department leaders shared stories, accomplishments, and words of thanks, and employees who were able to attend in person posed for photos. Vienneau wrapped up the event by thanking the honorees for all that they do for our patients and community.
“I know that I speak for all the leaders in the room when I say, “thank you” for your service to CA Dean,” Vienneau said. “Given your history with CA Dean, your knowledge and experience will be valued so much as we open our new hospital in February. I look forward to continuing the journey with you. We’ll have a lot to celebrate!”
