GFWC/Miosac Club news
DOVER-FOXCROFT — GFWC/Miosac Club President Minnie McCormick hosted a wine and cheese party with 16 members and one guest present. Members were happy to see each other as we have not met since the yard sale in July.
An informal meeting was called to order as we had some business to attend to. Suzanne Raymond has accepted the position of president-elect for GFWC Maine for the 2024-26 term and needed to be endorsed. That was done and Anne Cress will send the letter to Carol Jarvis, policy chairperson.
Members are asked to participate in National Day of Service. After some discussion it was decided that each member would bring a can of tuna fish, a can of soup and a box of sugar free cereal to the Oct. 3 meeting. They will then be given to the food cupboard.
Advisory Chairperson Brenda Quiet distributed new club programs for the coming year. A survey prepared by the advisory committee was explained and members will fill it out and return it to the committee at the next meeting. Some changes may be forthcoming.
The president reminded members that the tabs and corks will still be collected for another year. She also spoke about former members who are having some health problems. Members signed a card for Fred Muehl who is recovering from a fall earlier this summer. She also announced the coming marriage of one member. It has been 22 years since this has happened!
After a happy evening, members departed for home with reminders of the Oct. 3 meeting which will be “Souper Supper” with the advisory committee preparing the soups. Members were asked to bring their own bowls and silverware.
