Surprise 80th birthday party for Ralph ‘Eddie’ Lewis

DOVER-FOXCROFT — A surprise 80th party was held for Ralph “Eddie” Lewis of Dover-Foxcroft on Saturday afternoon, June 10 in the dining hall at the Piscataquis Valley Fairgrounds. Many friends and family were on hand to celebrate. Lewis’ three children, David, Linus, and Donna, were there with his grandchildren.

The Dover Foxcroft Fire Department opened the cook shack to flip burgers and dogs.

Lewis

Lewis, aka “Poppa,” has been a fixture in the town of Dover–Foxcroft his whole lifetime. He was the go to person for the fire department, Kiwanis, and was always on hand for the fair and helped with the annual auction every year. If you had a need, he wanted to help. His years living at Thayer Parkway earned him a certificate as he kept sidewalks clear of ice and snow. He helped clean and keep the property nice, although there is a caretaker. He always helped.

Lewis has pretty much retired now but is always willing to lend a hand if needed. You can find him sitting with The Old Crows most mornings at the Bear’s Den for breakfast — owners Brian and Laurie donated the meats and fries for this event. We are all grateful for all that was provided or helped with.

Much love was shown to him on Saturday and, although a surprise, he deeply appreciated it.
