Foxcroft boys track wins home meet
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Ten first-place performances accounted for nearly half of the team’s 203 total points as the Foxcroft Academy boys finished in first place at a home meet on May 9. The Ponies had the most points among a field of four teams, besting the 149 points for runner-up Central High School of Corinth and three other schools.
Jackson Smith had four of the first-place finishes as he won three jumps and was part of the top 4×100 relay. Smith cleared a height of 5 feet, 10 inches in the high jump, had a distance of 18-10 in the long jump, and his top triple jump measured 35-11.75.
Foxcroft’s 4×100 relay, made up of Smith, Landon Smith, Kyle Jankunas, and Fernando Oliveiva, had the day’s top time of 48.02 seconds.
Jankunas swept the 110 and 300 hurdles in respective times of 17.15 and 46.47 seconds.
Kemsley Marsters finished first in the 100 at 11.96 seconds — Foxcroft had the top five sprinters in the event. Marsters’ throw of 41-04.75 in the shot put gave him first-place honors.
Oliveiva came in first in the 200 at 24.94 seconds. Runner Jarrett placed first in the 1,600 with his time of 5:04.01.
The Greenville High School boys scored 54 points to place third in Dover-Foxcroft.
Dominick Murray had a hand in 26 of the Lakers’ points.
Murray’s throw of 125-09 gave him first-place honors in the javelin and he finished second in the discus at 101-10. Greenville’s 4×100 relay — comprised of Ethan Pratt, Parker Gallagher, Murray, and Liam Mason, came in third in 49.23 seconds.
In the 800 Pratt and Nigel Way were second and third with respective times of 2:26.78 and 2:41.35.
In the girls’ meet the Foxcroft girls ended the day in third place among four teams with a score of 90 points. Pacing the Ponies was four first-place finishes.
Abigail Knapp ran a time of 67.04 seconds in the 400 to come in first. She also opened the top 4×100 as she, Alexis Heretakis, Cadence Herrick, and Hilary Howard combined for a time of 56.59 seconds.
Heretakis also came in first in the 100 at 14.39 seconds. Heidi Clawson won the long jump at a distance of 13-05.
