PCHS girls track places fourth at Old Town

OLD TOWN — The Piscataquis Community High School girls scored 45 points to finish fourth among a field of six teams during a Penobscot Valley Conference outdoor track meet at Old Town High School on May 6.

The Pirates were led by a pair of second-place performances. Jazmin Channon came in second in the 200 in a time of exactly 30 seconds. Samantha Goodwin had the day’s runner-up throw in the javelin at a distance of 96 feet, 6 inches.

Molly Sipple was third in both the 100 and discus, in 13.43 seconds and at a distance of 89-08. The PCHS 4×400 relay team came in third in a time of 4:50.34.

Ava Goulette had a fourth-place throw in shot put at 30-06.50. The PCHS 4×100 relay was fourth in 56.02 seconds.

Tiara Channon placed fifth in the 200 in 32.08 seconds. Jazmin Channon was sixth in the 100 in 14.29 seconds.

The girls from Penquis Valley High School scored 13 points to place fifth in the standings.

Abbie Conlogue had the meet’s top throw in the javelin at 116-05. Her distance gave her top honors by nearly 20 feet and set a new school record. 

The Patriot 4×100 squad had the fifth-best time among point-scoring relays in 58.53 seconds.

Layla Chai came in sixth in the 200 in 32.30 seconds.

The Dexter Regional High School girls were sixth in Old Town with 12 points.

Lauryn Brunnre scored points in the three jumps. She finished fourth in the long and triple jumps at respective distances of 14-08.50 and 28-10, and cleared 4-06 in the high jump to come in fifth.

Elyssa Jerome added a fifth-place finish in the 110 hurdles with her time of 19.84 seconds.

In the boys’ meet, the Penquis boys scored 15 points to place fifth among six schools.

Andrew Lagasse came in third in the javelin with his throw measuring 128-04. Lagasse also was fourth in the 200 in 25.21 seconds.

Jareth Williams placed fifth in the 100 at 12.18 seconds, and Billy Sanborn had a fifth-place performance in the 1,600 at 5:48.46. Lucas Chai was sixth in the triple jump at a distance of 33-06.

The Dexter boys picked up six points to place sixth.

The Tiger 4×100 relay team was fourth among point-scoring squads in 61.33 seconds. Nathan Galligan came in fifth in the 400 with his time of 64.84 seconds.
