Dexter Regional High School students invited to relax, recharge, and explore during Mental Health Day

DEXTER — A day to relax, recharge, and explore is in store for Dexter Regional High School students on Friday, April 14 at a Mental Health Day coordinated by the school’s Positive Action Team.

Goals for the day include helping students build community between students and staff, learn about resiliency, explore coping skills, and manage stress.

Activities for students will include roller skating, paint pouring, ping pong, Zumba, crochet, cards and games, arts and crafts, and more. Students will learn about the mental health resources available to them at The Prevention Café. The day will wrap up with a staff versus students basketball game.

The Mental Health Day advances the student-led Positive Action Team’s work to address substance use prevention, mental health and wellbeing, suicide prevention, ensuring a safe school environment, and more. The Positive Action Team is a collaborative effort between Dexter Regional High School and Northern Light Mayo Hospital.

The Mental Health Day is also supported by Helping Hands with Heart and Penquis Youth Engagement.

Activities will begin at 8:40 a.m. and continue through 2:15 p.m.
