Foster seeks reelection for new House District 32

DEXTER – Rep. Steven Foster, R-Dexter, currently serving House District 104, has announced his bid for a third term. With the new statewide redistricting, the towns of Charleston, Dexter, Exeter, Garland, Stetson, and the part of Bradford west of Route 11/221 will comprise Maine House District 32 in the next Legislature.

Having lived and worked in this area all his life, Foster ran for his first term in 2018 after retiring from 40 years working in the private sector. He campaigned on the premise that legislation should attract, not discourage investment and job creation in central Maine. He served two terms as a member of the Energy and Utilities Committee, where he has spoken against bills that have and will continue to increase taxpayer and ratepayer funding of less efficient and less reliable energy generation for Maine’s future.

Foster stated, “When they began, the current administration told us, ‘this is Maine, not Washington.’ Since then, the controlling majority in Augusta has pushed through legislation that runs contrary to that. I do not believe this represents the wishes of my fellow citizens in central Maine. The 2022 election will be crucial to turning this around. If re-elected for a third term, I will continue to work to reflect the integrity, morality, and common sense of the hard working citizens of District 32.”

The candidate will discuss the upcoming June primary at the next Dexter Republicans meeting, 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 21 at the Town Council Chambers.

House District 32 includes the towns of Charleston, Dexter, Exeter, Garland, Stetson, and Bradford west of Route 11/221.
