Sen. Davis announces MDOT projects for District 4

AUGUSTA – Sen. Paul Davis, R-Sangerville announced that the Maine Department of Transportation has released its three-year Work Plan that includes road and bridge projects for Piscataquis County and other towns within Maine Senate District 4.

The Work Plan is calendar year-based and includes all Maine DOT work activities. Projects and activities listed for calendar year 2022 are more firmly funded, including $106 million approved by the Maine Legislature in two General Fund appropriations as well as the voter-approved $100 million transportation bond package in November.

Those projects slated for 2023 and 2024 are subject to change due to federal eligibility guidelines, policy guidance and funding formulas still in development under the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law enacted in November, according to the MDOT.

Dozens of transportation projects that will take place throughout Piscataquis County are listed on the site. Major highlights include:

  • Repair/reconstruction of the Village Bridge over the East Branch of the Sebasticook River in Detroit;
  • Safety and infrastructure improvements at Dexter Regional and Greenville Regional airports including an arrivals building, pavement/runway repairs and weather system;
  • Replacement of the Dover Bridge over the Piscataquis River in Dover-Foxcroft;
  • Repair/reconstruction of the Guilford Memorial Bridge in Guilford;

  • Reconstruction of 3 miles of Route 152 and related drainage basins in Hartland;
  • I-95 bridge deck replacement at the Route 100 bridge in Palmyra
  • Reconstruction/safety improvements of the Route 2 corridor in Palmyra

“Bridges are an integral part of our road system, and the plan released by Maine DOT focuses well-timed work that is sorely needed on various bridges in Piscataquis County,” Davis said. “The three-year plan also includes improvements that we’ll make at the Dexter and Greenville airports and reconstruction of the Route 2 corridor in Palmyra.”
