Three Tigers run at state X-C championships
BELFAST — Three Dexter Regional High School students ran in Class C cross country championships on Oct. 30 at Troy Howard Middle School.
Tiger junior Payson Reinhardt finished 24th among a field of 100 entrants in the boys’ meet. Reinhardt covered the 3.1 miles in a time of 18 minutes, 19.69 seconds.
Monmouth Academy junior Brosnan Comeau won the race in 16:43.78, besting second place by 5-plus seconds.
Orono High School claimed the boys’ title with a score of 69 points. George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill came in second with 80 points and the Maine Coast Waldorf School of Freeport was third with 103 points.
In the girls’ race, Dexter junior Annika King and freshman Lillian Cooley were 58th and 59th among a field of 67 entrants. King and Cooley ran respective times of 24:47.16 and 24:50.66.
Orono sophomore Ruth White earned top individual honors with her time of 17:31.92, winning by about 49 seconds.
Orono completed the Class C sweep as the Red Riot girls won with a score of 38 points. The Houlton High School/Greater Houlton Christian Academy cooperative placed second with 45 points and in third place with 87 points was the Maranacook Community High School of Readfield.
