DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Highlands Classical Chamber Ensemble will present a concert of light music on the East Lawn of the Thompson Free Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 15. This concert is free and open to the public, though donations will be gratefully accepted.
The mission of this group of highly trained musicians is to stimulate performance of classical music in the towns of rural Maine. A winter concert includes extended works frequently of technical challenge. For summer audiences, a lighter fare is offered, including Gounod’s “Ave Maria” with violin and piano, Mendelssohn’s “Scherzo” for piano trio, Gershwin’s “Summertime” for violin and piano, Saint-Saens’ “Allegro Appassionata” for cello and piano, Brahms Piano Duets Op. 39, Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Violins and Cello, a Celtic Suite for two flutes and more.
The library is located at 186 East Main Street. For information, please call the Thompson Free Library at 207-564-3350.
