DOVER-FOXCROFT — SeDoMoCha Elementary students in pre-kindergarten to grade 4 have been busy reading, not just for themselves but to help others in the inaugural Read to Feed event to benefit the Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Cupboard. The pupils looked for family, friends, and community members to pledge them a certain amount of items for every 10 minutes that they read over the last two weeks before February vacation.

Read to Feed was organized by Alecia Talbot and her second grade class. They came up with the idea when they talked about community and community service in social studies during the fall. The students chose to do a food drive because the need in Piscataquis County is very high.
Final tallies from Read to Feed were 8,248 minutes read, 1,690 items donated and $700 in monetary donations.
