DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Final Friday Community Conversations on Climate continued on Feb. 28 with a well-attended potluck dinner followed by a talk by Citizens’ Climate Lobby representative Peter Garrett from Winslow. He reported that both U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King are now members of the Senate Climate Solutions Caucus, an excellent representation for Maine which shows tremendous leadership of our delegation on climate issues.

 

Following this, he presented an interactive computer simulation called En-Roads, created by MIT to explore key technology and policy changes and their effects on CO2 emissions and warming.  The presentation was fascinating and fun, with many surprises as participants suggested ways to “make a difference” and saw the immediate effect of proposed changes in global temperature.

The group then discussed plans for Earth Week April 19-25 including work on nature trails at SeDoMoCha and Penquis Valley schools, an art show of works created entirely with recycled materials, a tree planting event and possibly a panel discussion.

 

The group meets the final Friday of every month at The Commons at Central Hall from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Dover-Foxcroft. All are welcome.
