FA’s Reed finishes second in high jump 

ORONO — Foxcroft Academy sophomore Jacob Reed tied for second in the high jump during an Eastern Maine Indoor Track League/Penobscot Valley Conference meet on Jan. 11 at the University of Maine.

 

Reed and Ellsworth High School freshman Drew Pierson both cleared the bar at a height of 5 feet, 4 inches. Reed scored seven points in the high jump for more than half of the 11 Foxcroft points, putting the Ponies in seventh place among nine teams.

 

Foxcroft senior Hunter Clarke finished fourth in the 55 meters in a time of 7.11 seconds to pick up his team’s other four points.

 

The two also each finished in the top 10 in another event. Reed placed seventh in the long jump at 16-07.50 and Clarke came in eighth in the 200 at 25.22 seconds.

 

Piscataquis Community High School junior Ty Massie scored two points by having a fifth-place performance in the long jump. Massie jumped a distance of 17-01. His two points helped the Pirates tie Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln for eighth place.

 

In the girls’ meet, PCHS freshman Molly Sipple finished third in the 55 meters at 7.90 seconds. Her half dozen points helped the Pirates place seventh among eight schools.

 

Sipple was also seventh in the 200 in a time of 30.45 seconds.

 

Foxcroft junior Ava Rayfield led her team by placing ninth in the 200 in 31.18 seconds.
