D-F Kiwanis thanks all involved in Community Christmas Project

The Kiwanis Community Christmas Project is truly a community-supported and worthwhile project. Starting with the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, there are so many people and organizations that deserve to get big hugs for their help in making the holidays brighter for our community’s youth.
November and December were very busy months as gift bags were prepared and readied for 171 children. This huge task could not be accomplished without the help of adopters and donors throughout the community. A debt of gratitude and a sincere thank you is extended to everyone who helped make this year’s Kiwanis Community Christmas Project a success. In total, 75 families received gifts this year for their children.
The project started in September when toys were donated from the United Bikers of Maine annual toy run and concluded in December with the distribution of individualized gift bags filled with specific items requested for each child, including coats and boots, hats and gloves, where needed.
Toys were donated. Dozens of hand-knitted hats, mittens and scarfs and hand-made quilts. Businesses, churches, civic organizations and many, many individuals and families joined together, embodying the true meaning of Christmas by giving to those less fortunate in our community. And let’s not forget to thank the Masons of District 5 who provided a complete turkey dinner for each of the 75 families. All came together at this special time of year when so many are in need.
It is so heartwarming to see an entire community come together for such a wonderful cause. Thank you to all for your continued and generous support to the children of our community!
