‘Little Women’ delivers big show 

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Friday night was opening night for The Center Theatre and the Slightly Off-Center Players’ production of “Little Women the Broadway Musical.” The production is based on the beloved novel by Louisa May Alcott which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.

The cast is comprised of over 20 local actors of all ages. The cast brings a passion and energy to the stage that is contagious. The cast’s vitality is matched by the dynamic costumes, lighting, and sound which helps paint the full picture and takes the audience back in time.

LITTLE WOMEN — The cast of “Little Women the Broadway Musical” at the Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft. There are three more performances of this inspiring musical: 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 and 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.

Derrick Buschmann, the play’s director, says that the novel “Little Women” and the character of Jo March, both resonated with him through his formative years, “As a creative child with two sisters I often told fanciful tales of adventure and magic. I would like to personally thank Deb Fournier our musical director and Devan Baird our stage manager, who worked tirelessly to make the show a reality. “

The production is split into two acts and runs approximately two hours and 30 minutes. For those that missed opening weekend, there will be three more performances starting with a 7 p.m. show on Friday the 20th and shows at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday the 21st. The cast also was set to perform two private shows for area school kids during the day on Wednesday the 18th.
