‘The Birds’ at Sept. 11 free movie night
DEXTER — On Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. the Abbott Memorial Library in Dexter will be showing Alfred Hitchock’s 1963 film “The Birds” that focuses on a series of sudden and unexplained violent bird attacks on the people of Bodea Bay, California over the course of a few days.
The film stars Rod Taylor, Suzanne Pleshette, Jessica Tandy and introduces Tippi Hedren in her screen debut. Based on a story by Daphne Du Maurier, the screenplay was written by Evan Hunter. In 2016 “The Birds” was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in its National Film Registry.
